Identigene_Shelf02Scripture for Today:  Romans 8:15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by Him we cry,”Abba, Father.”

Such a happy picture is shown on this box!  But what heartache the buying of this product must represent.  Apparently, the confusion regarding who the father of one’s baby may be is prevalent enough to create a market for this testing.  It is sad to think that the mother has had multiple partners without a growing committed relationship.  It is sad to think of the man who picks up this product to prove he is not the father, and so avoid any future commitment.

Our verse for today is in stark contrast.  God has committed Himself to the believer as a Father to his child.  Just as in adoption, He has chosen us to be His very own.  The relationship is not one of fear between slave and master.  It is rather a relationship of love and commitment.  We can call Him “Abba” or “Daddy.”  We can cry to Him and He answers.

We will be celebrating Father’s Day this weekend.  I love my Father and feel so blessed to have been raised by him.  As good as our relationship has been, there is no earthly Father that is perfect.  There will always be mistakes in parenting.  There will always be misunderstandings.  But with God as our Father, HE is the perfect Father we never had!

I do not need a test to tell if God is my Father.  He has given me His Spirit who reassures my spirit that I belong to God as one of His children! (Rom. 8:16)

May every day be a day where I love and honor my Heavenly Father!
