One Size Fits All?

I get annoyed when I see the clothing label saying, “one size fits all.”  It is never true.  And being that I prefer clothes that have a tailored fit, I usually stay well away from this marketing ploy.  I noticed recently a label saying, “one size fits most.”  I do not like to think I am like most.  Something inside of me dislikes being placed in wide categories.  How much better to have clothes tailor-made to fit just right!

There are many verses in the Bible that talk about “all.”  Sin and its remedy are applicable to “all.”  We tend to shy away from being placed in broad sweeping categories.  It goes against the cherished idea of being special and unique.  But as part of fallen humanity, we are part of the “all” needing God’s grace and forgiveness.  That is not to say that we are not special and unique in His eyes.  His relationship to us is an individual one, tailored to fit our needs, particular struggles, backgrounds and personalities.

Today’s verse hints at our uniqueness.  No other person can quite relate to what we feel.  Our bitterness is unknowable to others.  Our joy is tailor made and cannot be fully appreciated by anyone else.  I often feel how my emotions distance me from others.  That is why God deals with me individually.  He speaks to my heart with full understanding.  The truth I need to hear from Him is the truth He communicates.  My relationship with Him will always be unique to me.  He is that loving and personal!

Thank you Lord, for understanding me like no one else, and still loving me!
