Derailed!

img_0132Scripture for Today: Proverbs 2:8 “For He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.”

It only makes sense.  The train set is in cat territory; on the floor.  The train set is not only accessible but brightly colored and moving.  No way was that train going to stay on the tracks.  All it takes is one swish of the tail to derail it.  Wheels may continue to turn, but the cat has insured that it goes nowhere.  The only way to get that train back on track is by human hands to right it.

Today’s verse describes how the Lord is personally involved in righting the way of those who belong to Him.  He keeps His faithful ones on course.  He sees what is ahead and protects the believer from what can potentially derail him or get him off track.  There is a particular destination He wants us to reach.  His goal is to transform us into the image of His Son.

What a comfort to know that I am not just spinning my wheels!  It is not always clear what direction He is taking me.  There seems to be easier tracks that avoid certain obstacles, but He has a plan in the route He chooses for me.  The delays, the stops, and the slower speeds are all part of His plan when I have given Him the control.  Other trains may go whizzing by me but I do not want to be distracted.  He knows what He is doing and He reassures me that I am on the right track.  It is not who finishes first, after all!  The point is to stay the course and be faithful to Him, regardless.

Lord, keep me focused and on track with You today.

  1. Thank you Jan. I was thinking how we are in a world that really celebrates only the big happenings: Super Bowl, grand slams, American Idol, making a million, winning the Lottery, being famous, the mega church, etc. But my walk with Jesus is a string of small, daily choices to trust in the direction He is leading. Those are the true celebrations. Thank you for that reminder.
