The owners of this luxury yacht must lead a rich meaningful life, seeing and experiencing so much. It sleeps ten and has five staterooms with soft new furnishings, as well as a full bar and an on deck Jacuzzi. I can just imagine the new sights and sounds I could enjoy on a long extended voyage. This yacht was for sale and its name intrigued me; “Never Enough.” I suppose the owners were ready to upgrade to something bigger and better. But I have a feeling their new yacht would not be named, “Finally Enough.”
Our verse for today was written by King Solomon. He was able to lay his hands on and enjoy just about anything he could want. His wealth was staggering. Whatever adventure, whatever luxury, or whatever whim he had he could indulge to his heart’s content. He was so rich he denied himself nothing his eyes desired (Ecclesiastes 2:10). And yet, he concluded that it was all wearisome beyond description. The eye never sees enough. The ear never hears enough.
The point of saturation never really comes. Whether it is experiences or objects, there is always longing for more and more. I have a sneaky suspicion that if I owned this yacht, someday it would prove to be not enough. That is because I was created for something more. That something more is Someone. It is in my relationship with Jesus Christ that I find meaning and satisfaction. Regardless of how many beautiful things surround me or how many adventures I have lived, it is the Lord who makes my life worthwhile!
Thank you Lord, that You are infinitely more than enough!
