Basic Beliefs

I agree wholeheartedly with the Apostles’ Creed.  If you have never read it, I have typed it below.  It is a good and timeless resume of the Christian faith.

  1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
  2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
  3. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary:
  4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried:  He descended into hell:
  5. The third day he rose again from the dead:
  6. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
  7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:
  8. I believe in the Holy Ghost:
  9. I believe in the holy catholic church:  the communion of the saints:
  10. The forgiveness of sins:
  11. The resurrection of the body:
  12. And the life everlasting.  Amen

  1. The Apostles’ Creed is a partial statement of faith and a good one. I recognize it from Catholic and Lutheran catechism. However, what is your beliefs regarding salvation; criteria for entry into heaven? …I am new to your website so I just wasn’t sure. Perhaps if I read further I will see. Thanks for yesterday’s devotional, very encouraging!

    • Thanks for your comment! Salvation comes by our faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus, God’s Son, for our sins. By His grace we have forgiveness and without it there is no entrance into Heaven (Eph. 2:8-9). If you look to the right of my posts you will see them categorized. Feel free to look at the one with the heading,”Salvation” for more detail. And if you’d like to discuss further, my e-mail is listed in the “Contact Me” tab at the top of the blog. Blessings, Jan
